Kevin Paul Named Assistant Volleyball Coach

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Kevin Paul has been named assistant volleyball coach at JU, head coach Robin Mignerey announced today.

Paul, who will assist in all phases of the JU volleyball program, joins the Dolphin squad after six seasons as a volunteer assistant at Eastern Kentucky University.

"I'm excited to have Kevin on the staff for the 2001 season," Mignerey said. "He brings a wealth of experience to the JU program after six seasons at Eastern Kentucky. He brings new ideas and a new sense of intensity to the program."

While at Eastern Kentucky from 1994-2000, Paul helped coach All-Ohio Valley Conference outside hitter Courtney Bowen who led the team in kills and digs in 2000 as well as Becky Galati who earned OVC all-freshman honors in 1999.

In addition to assisting the EKU varsity squad, Paul served as the head coach and president of the Eastern Kentucky men's club team from 1995-2000 where he was responsible for scheduling matches and practices as well as organize fund raising activities, purchases and home tournaments. He helped led the men's squad to a pair of national rankings, finishing 13th in 1997 and 22nd in 1998.

Paul also served as the head coach of the Central Kentucky Thoroughbred Volleyball Club in 1998. Paul got his first head coaching job in 1996 when he led the Holy Cross High varsity boy's team and the Saints Simon and Jude seventh and eighth grade boys squad.

As a player, Paul suited up for the Eastern Kentucky men's club team from 1995-2000 and the United States Volleyball Association Club Team from 1996-98. He was selected to the North/South Volleyball Team in 1998.

As a prep athlete, Paul was a standout quarterback at Holy Cross High in Louisville, Ky., where he earned all-district honors from 1990-92 and participated in the East/West All-Star Team in 1993.

Paul earned his B.S. in physical education from Eastern Kentucy in 2001.
