Volleyball Drops Tought Battle To Auburn, 3-0

JU junior middle hitter Brooke Ahrens (Benson, Ill.) had a team-high 13 kills and 10 digs, while sophomore outside hitter Radka Dimitrova (Sofia, Bulgaria) added 12 kills and 14 digs, but it wasn't enough to overcome a balanced Auburn attack as the Dolphins fell to the Tigers, 3-0 (30-25, 30-27, 32-30) Friday night at the War Eagle Invitational. JU (0-4) will face Charlotte on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Senior setter Carrie Bosworth (Centerville, Mass.) posted nine kills, four blocks and 29 assists for JU, which jumped out to an 8-2 lead in game one before the Tigers came roaring back to tie the game at 17-17. After Auburn took a 22-17 lead, the shorthanded Dolphins fought back before falling, 30-25. JU battled in game two, but the Tigers hung on for a 30-27 win to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Jacksonville hung tough in game three as the score was tied at 10-10. Auburn scored three quick points to take a 13-10 advantage, but the Dolphins battled back to tie the game at 28, 29 and 30 before dropping game three, 32-30.
