Volleyball Drops Early Lead in 3-2 Loss to UCF

Sophomore middle hitter Radka Dimitrova (Sofia, Bulgaria) had a team-high 17 kills and 12 digs, while junior middle hitter Brooke Ahrens (Benson, Ill.) added 16 kills, but it wasn't enough as UCF rallied from a two-game deficit, behind Leyre Santaella Sante's 29 kills deficit to defeat the Dolphins, 3-2, Tuesday night in A-Sun conference action at Swisher Gynamsium.
The Dolphins got out to out of the gates early, taking the first two games 30-21 and 31-29, to take a 2-0 lead into intermission. However, UCF fought back hard, hitting .432 or higher in the final three games to seal the victory.
Tany Jarvis tallied 19 kills for the Knights, while Piper Morgan added 13. Jenny Frank had a match-high 60 assists and 15 digs and Casey Kerner garnered 14 digs for UCF.
Senior setter Carrie Bosworth (Centreville, Mass.) recorded 50 assists and junior outside hitter Alesha Rodriguez (Cleveland, Ohio) chipped in with 12 kills and a match-high 18 digs in the loss. Kristin Withrow contributed to the Dolphins defensive efforts with 11 digs.
The Dolphins return to the hardwood when they host conference opponent Belmont on Sunday, November 4, at 2 p.m. at Swisher Gymnasium.
