Volleyball Drops 3-0 Decision To Florida A&M

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - JU senior outside hitter Radka Dimitrova (Sofia, Bulgaria) had a team-high 10 kills and added five digs as the Dolphins fell, 3-0 (14-30, 18-30, 17-30), to Florida A&M on Friday night at Swisher Gymnasium. The Rattlers hit .613 in the opening game as they improve to 2-2, while JU falls to 1-3.

Florida A&M hit .377 for the match, and were led by Adriana Kostadinova, who had 13 kills and seven digs. Jayli Jackson had 12 kills and had a hitting percentage of .647, while Adrian Andonova hit .583 and added eight kills. Marielo Portocarrero dished out 44 assists for the Rattlers.

JU hit .097 in the three games and were led defensively by junior outside hitter Candice Rose (Mechanicsville, Md.) who had seven digs, while sophomore setter Erin Donivan (Sarasota, Fla.) dished out 15 assists to go along with five digs.

The Dolphins take a week off before returning to action when they host the Hampton Inn/JU Classic, which runs next Friday and Saturday, Sept. 12-13 at Swisher Gymnasium. Also competing in the tournament will be Florida International, Baylor, and Wyoming. JU plays Wyoming on Friday at 7 p.m., before taking on Florida International and Baylor on Saturday at 1 p.m. and 8 p.m., respectively.
