Volleyball Sweeps Mercer, 3-0, For 11th-Straight Win

MACON, Ga. - Junior outside hitter Candice Rose (Mechanicsville, Md.) recorded 12 kills and five block assists and the Dolphins combined to hit .323 as JU extended its winning streak to 11-straight and 6-0 in conference play with a 3-0 (30-15, 30-13, 31-29) victory over Mercer in Atlantic Sun Conference action on Friday night in Porter Gymnasium.

The Dolphins (12-10, 6-0 Atlantic Sun) tied a school record for consecutive victories with their 11th of the season, matching a superlative set during the 1983 campaign when JU railed off 11-straight en route to a 35-9 record and a berth in the NCAA Elite 8. JU has never before started a season 5-0 in conference play. With the victory, the Dolphins remain tied for first place in the Atlantic Sun with four conference matches remaining.

JU took the first two games handily, prevailing 30-15 and 30-13 before closing out the match with a gutsy 31-29 effort. Jennifer Smith led the Bears with 10 kills in the loss.

The Dolphins visit Georgia State on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 7:00 p.m.
