Volleyball Falls To Troy State, 3-1, In First Round Of A-Sun Championship

ORLANDO, Fla. - Sophomore middle blocker Danielle Neville (Greenwood Village, Colo.) led JU with 10 kills and nine block assists, along with a .529 hitting percentage, but sixth-seeded Troy State was able to hold on for a 3-1 (28-30, 30-28, 29-31, 20-30) win over the third-seeded Dolphins in the first round of the A-Sun Championship Friday afternoon at UCF Arena. The Dolphins end their season at 15-14, while Troy State improves to 14-11.

Freshman outside hitter Eva Stoilova (Sofia, Bulgaria), who was named to the All-Freshman Team earlier this week, recorded 15 kills and 12 digs. Senior outside hitter Radka Dimtrova (Sofia, Bulgaria) finished her career at JU with 12 kills, seven digs, and three block assists, while freshman setter Erin Donivan (Sarasota, Fla.) recorded 44 assists.

Rachel Hassan led Troy State with 27 kills and a .404 hitting percentage, while Kendra Sytsma added 18 kills and 14 digs. Haven Triboulet tallied 15 kills and 16 digs and setter Erika Leitzke added 68 assists and 15 digs.

Number-six seed Troy State advances to the semifinal round tonight to take on second-seeded Georgia State at 7 p.m. Top-seeded UCF takes on fifth-seeded FAU at 5 p.m. in the other semifinal match. The winner of the A-Sun Championship receives an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
