The Jacksonville University Dolphins will attempt to rebound from their season opening loss at The Citadel when they travel to

Western Illinois Saturday. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. EDT.

The game will be broadcast on 1010XL and 1010XL.com with Terry Norvelle and Joel Lamp calling the action live from Hanson Field in Macomb, Ill. The Bono’s Barbeque Pregame Show will kickoff game coverage at 3:30 p.m.

JU (0-1) will be looking for more offense against the Leathernecks (0-1) after they netted only 186 yards with the ball in the 31-9 loss to The Citadel. JU led the FCS in offense last season.

Quarterback Josh McGregor completed 21 of 33 passes for 208 yards but was sacked five times and the Dolphins ended the game with minus 22 yards rushing. Meanwhile, The Citadel quarterback Ben Dupree scored twice as the Bulldogs ran for 439 yards.

The Bulldogs forced nine punts from JU punter freshman Garrett Mohr who resonded with a 43.2 average and included a 63 yarder, fifth longest in school history.

“We never got Josh comfortable because of the protection and from there they really turned it on us on defense,’’ coach Kerwin Bell said.

Despite the loss, the Dolphins were able to receive votes in both The Sports Network and Coaches FCS polls this week as did Western Illinois.

The Leathernecks, who made it to the second round before losing to Appalachian State 21-14, lost their season opener to Sam Houston State 20-6.

Caulton Ray led the team in rushing with 53 yards on 14 carries while quarterback Josh Hudson completed 7 of 12 passes for 136 yards including a 92-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Terriun Crump.
