The Jacksonville University Dolphins finally will open their home season this weekend as they play host to Charleston Southern Saturday at 1 p.m.

The game will be broadcast live on 1010XL radio and 1010XL.com with Terry Norvelle doing play-by-play and Joel Lamp offering color analysis. The Bono’s Barbeque Pregame Show will begin at 12:30 p.m.

JU (0-2) has had second quarter woes in their two road losses -– 31-9 at The Citadel and 35-21 at Western Illinois.

The loss at Western came despite 314 yards passing and three touchdowns from quarterback Josh McGregor.

After grabbing early leads in both contests, the Dolphins faltered toward the end of each half. They have had 10 second-quarter drives this season with five ending in punts, two ending in interceptions, one on downs and two ended the quarter.

This will be the third consecutive week Charleston Southern, of the Big South Conference, has visited Florida. They lost to UCF in their opener 62-0 and lost to FSU last week, 62-10.

JU, which began the season by losing linebackers A.J. Joiner and Layne McCombs for the year with knee injuries, lost defensive back Darren Johnson for the season last week with a broken ankle. Center/guard Kevin Halverson is out several weeks with a broken finger.

Following this week’s game, JU goes back on the road to start its Pioneer Football League season next week at Campbell.
