Men's tennis kicks off conference play with a 1-2 record
The JU men’s tennis team has gone 1-2 so far in conference play with the win coming against USC Upstate. JU defeated the Spartans 5-2 on March 17. Jose Fantova led the way for the Dolphins winning his flight #1 match in three sets. He defeated Ramiro Blanco 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. Fantova also was victorious in his doubles match with teammate Fernando Banos Lopez. They defeated their Spartan opponents 8-3. Lopez was also victorious in his singles match winning in three sets as well. He defeated Upstate’s #2 Matthias Kidler 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. Richard Casagrande battled back in his match after dropping the first set 0-6 to win the next two sets off of Yvon Haessig and record the team point. He won 0-6, 6-3, 6-3. Casagrande is 2-1 so far in conference play with the wins coming in his last two conference matches. As a team, JU is tied for sixth in conference at 1-2. Their next conference match is March 29 at Stetson. |
