Camels take down Dolphins, snap streak

The JU women’s tennis team was defeated by Campbell University 6-1 Saturday in Jacksonville and freshman Aline Staudt was defeated in a singles match for the first time all season. 

Staudt, off to a brilliant start in 2012, suffered her first loss of the season being defeated by Karolina Chernaya 6-4, 6-2.  Staudt was previously 6-0 on the season. 

Freshman Djessika Bezerra won the only match of the day for the Dolphins winning in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 over the Camels Borislava Nikolova.  Bezerra has now won four straight matches. 

Natalia Melibeu almost pulled off a win barely losing to Tamara Stanic 6-1, 2-6, 7-6. 

The Dolphins were swept in the doubles portion of the match.

JU moves to 3-4 on the season with the loss and returns to action March 7th when they host Eastern Kentucky.
