Sand volleyball falls to UNF in duals action
The JU sand volleyball team fell on the short end of a 3-2 duals match to North Florida at the Dolphin Beach Volleyball Complex Friday afternoon.
The Ospreys (5-2) earned straight set wins in the No. 2, 3 and 5 flights to down the Dolphins (1-3) for the second time this season.
JU’s top flight of sophomore Kendall Courtney and freshman Cari Whitmire continued its hot stretch by defeating Dagnija Medina and Emily Strack in three sets (21-19, 11-21, 15-10).
The Dolphins earned their other victory in the No. 4 flight as junior Nicole Teplitz and Chelsea Sanderson won in straight sets (21-17, 22-20) over Nicole Baran and Allison Shirley.
UNF’s Julie Trembley and Carolyn Jenkins posted a 2-0 (21-17, 21-16) win against junior Niatha Cullen and Sammie Strausbaugh at the No. 2 flight. Anna Budinska paired with Britt Claessens in the third flight to earn a straight set victory 2-0 (21-17, 21-15) against sophomore Alyssa Robertson and senior Kathryn Kane. Freshman Jenna Orner and junior Alison Loeppky took the loss in the fifth flight.
The Dolphins finish their duals schedule Tuesday against Stetson in DeLand, Fla. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
