JU baseball senior Ethan Loosen posted a good summer on the diamond en route to being ranked as one of the top 20 prospects from the JayHawk League by Perfect Game USA.

Loosen was slotted 18th on the list after leading the Derby Twins in hits (45), doubles (6), home runs (5), stolen bases (10) and RBI (30). He finished with 13 multiple-hit games, including six straights contests from June 26-July 1.

“Ethan had a great summer,” JU head coach Terry Alexander said. “He played in a very competitive league so it’s nice to see him be that successful. We look forward to some of same production for the 2013 season.

As a junior in 2012, Loosen ranked second on the team in doubles (12) and fourth in runs scored (23). He also finished with 13 RBI and 11 multi-hit games and recorded a season-best nine-game hitting streak from April 3-20. Loosen had his best series against Kennesaw State where he batted 6-for-11 (.545) with three RBI, three runs scored and a home run during the three-game stretch.

The Dolphins begin fall practice in late September at John Sessions Stadium.
