Baseball begins annual Alumni Weekend Friday
Past and present members of the JU baseball program will hit campus starting Friday for the annual alumni weekend at John Sessions Stadium.

The event opens Friday at 6:30 p.m. with the batting practice barbeque as the alumni dusts off it swing and meets the new 2013 squad.

On Saturday, the current JU squad will battle the past JU greats in the alumni game at 12:30 p.m. The game will run seven innings to determine this year’s winner with the Alumni scrimmaging against one another for the remainder of the afternoon.

The young guys have won the 2011 (13-4) and 2010 (10-1) editions with big-run innings. The alumni won the 2009 game, 3-1, and battled to a 2-2 tie in 2008.

“We are excited to have the alumni back again,” JU head coach Terry Alexander said. “I know our current players enjoy meeting the alumni who helped our program become what it is today. This event continues to be one of the highlights of year.”

A donation of $25 per player will secure the two dinners, a special edition JU camouflage baseball hat and alumni t-shirt. All friends, family and spectators are welcomed to the alumni game to get the first glimpse of the 2013 Dolphins’ team.
