Anderson named to A-Sun preseason all conference team
Jacksonville baseball junior right-hander Chris Anderson was named to the preseason Atlantic Sun All Conference team.

Anderson from Lino Lakes, Minn. finished the 2012 campaign with a 5-4 record and an era of 4.48. He made 16 appearances, including 14 starts on the hill as a sophomore. Anderson led the staff in innings pitched (88.1), strikeouts (69) and complete-games (3). He pitched six or more innings seven times and struck out at least five batters in four of his final seven starts. Anderson’s most dominant game came as he retired 18 of his first 19 hitters to get a complete-game win vs. ETSU.

Anderson was also a star in the classroom as he earned A-Sun all-academic honors.

“We are excited about the progress that Chris has made as a pitcher,” head coach Terry Alexander said. “He has shown an ability to change speeds and keep opposing hitters guessing, this combined with a plus fastball makes him tough to beat.”

In addition to Anderson’s honor, the Dolphins were picked to finish ninth in the A-Sun preseason coaches poll.

The Dolphins begin their 2013 season on Friday, Feb.15th at John Sessions Stadium at 6:30pm.
