Dolphins blank USC Upstate 3-0 in ASUN opener

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- Chris Anderson (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) and the JU Dolphins blank the USC Upstate 3-0 at John Sessions Stadium.

Chris Anderson went 8 1/3 innings and Brady North (Tampa, Fla./Hillsboro CC) scored twice to lead the Dolphins (8-14) (1-0) over the Spartans (12-8) (1-3) in ASUN Conference play.

Anderson (4-1) allowed eight hits and only one base-on-balls while striking out ten before being replaced by Adam Maxon (Oviedo, Fla./Oviedo) who came in an recorded the final two outs for his third save of the season.

The game was a scoreless headed to the bottom half of the fifth inning. North walked and advanced to second on a ground ball by Kris Molter (Jacksonville, Fla./Bishop Kenny). One out later Ethan Loosen (Uniondale, N.Y./FSCJ) singled up the middle scoring North to put the Dolphins up 1-0.

The Dolphins added on a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh. North singled to lead off the inning. Molter then doubled advancing North to third. Josh Baker (Sussez, Wis./University School) followed with a single scoring North and advancing Molter to third. Molter then scored on a sacrifice bunt by Dylan Dillard (Kissimmee, Fla./Osceola) to put the Dolphins up 3-0.

That was all that Anderson would need. Anderson lowered his team leading ERA to .96 while upping his strikeout total to 60 in 47 innings pitched.

The Dolphins will be back in Action tomorrow at 2pm from John Sessions Stadium. The game can be watched live on ASUN TV or listened to live on FM 92.5.
