Men’s cross country rounds out UCF Attack Challenge
Sophomore Esteban Mendez paced the JU men’s cross country team for the second straight week for a 10th place finish at the UCF Attack Challenge on Friday.
Mendez posted a time of 29:47.91 (50th), while freshman Martin Crouse registered a time of 31:03.95 (65th).
“All of the guys did a really good job in the first 8k race of the season,” JU head coach Ron Grigg said. “It was nice to see Esteban hit a milestone himself by breaking 30 minutes for an 8k.”
Freshman Jason Acquaviva posted a time of 32:00.58 (69th) and senior Jesse Brantman ran a 32:31.04 for 73rd place. Sophomore Matthew Outlaw (32:50.73, 76th) and freshman Taylor Fisher (35:31.48, 90th) made up the rest of the JU runners.
Like the women’s squad, the Dolphins will try for the next two weeks to prepare for the A-Sun Championships in Nashville, Tenn. on Oct. 29.
