JU women third in MAAC championships
The JU women’s rowing team made its debut in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championships with a stout third-place

The Varsity 8 boat of coxswain Savannah Rice, Emily Close, Cat Plesko, Whitney Mathews, Abby Sierigk, Joanna Zachowski, Jordan Clary, Maycee Dioneda and Mary Mosier was third in their race on the 2,000-meter Lake Mercer course in West. Windsor, N.J. They finished in 7:04.0. Drake won the event with Marist second.

The Varsity 8 second boat with senior Allison Sobiech at coxswain and Jessica Desiderio, Whitney Abshear, Yasmeen Stogden, Ivy Hartley, Ashley August, Abigail Bristlin, Cassie MacClellan and Emma Allen as crew, took fifth in its race. Marist and Drake finished first and second.

The Open 4 boat of Jordan Heylock, Close, Plesko, Mathews and Mosier took third in its race and the Women’s 4 with Heylock, April Neck, Kelly Cleveland, Samara Generals and Rebecca Clark on board was fourth in its race.

In pairs competition, Close and Mosier teamed for fifth in their race which was won by Iona.

Drake won the overall title with Marist second and the Dolphins third.
