Courtney Walker will be in the 100-meter Friday, while Shanique Walker will compete in the 100-meter hurdles Saturday and the triple jump Sunday.
The top two finishers from each event will join the US national team at the World Junior Championships in Spain in July.
“Being amongst the best athletes in this country under the age of 20 is something that both women can be proud of,” JU head coach Ron Grigg said. “They have had excellent freshman years and this is the icing on the cake.”
Walker, a local native, has competed in the 100-meter six times for JU during the outdoor season and posted a season-best time of 11.57 to win the event at the A-Sun Championships. She also ran the event recently at the NCAA East Preliminary Round, posting a time of 11.84 on May 24.
In the 100-meter hurdles, Shanqiue Walker ran a time of 13.72 at the Georgia Tech Invitational to earn a spot into the NCAA East Preliminary Round. She bettered her time in the regional after running a time of 13.64.
Walker finished second in the triple jump at the A-Sun meet with a leap of 40’1.25”. She has jumped more than 39 feet in her three other competitions.
Both Walkers will represent the Dolphins for the first time in the US Junior Championships since Natasha Harvey competed in the long jump in 2006.
