Track & field adds Kaitlyn Taylor for the 2013 season
The JU track & field program continues to remain busy by signing Kaitlyn Taylor (Fayetteville, Ga.) for the 2013 campaign.
Taylor finished second in the long jump and fifth in the triple jump for Sandy Creek High School at the Georgia Class AAA State Championships. She also ran a leg winning 4x100-meter relay squad.
Taylor had a personal best of 19’ 3” (5.87m) in the long jump and 40’ 0.5” (12.20) in the triple jump.
“We feel that Kaitlyn has both great versatility and potential in the horizontal jumps,” JU head coach Ron Grigg said. “She should make an immediate impact in the Atlantic Sun Conference while aspiring to achieve marks that will make her competitive at the national level. She has a very supportive family, and we are excited to add her character and talent to our program.”
Taylor is the third athlete to sign with the Dolphins for next season, joining throwers Kree Clark (Conyers, Ga.) and Samantha Turner (San Antonio, Texas).
In 2012, the Dolphins swept the A-Sun indoor and outdoor titles for the seventh straight season. They also had six athletes compete in seven events at the East Preliminary Round in May. Junior Charlene Charles earned second All-America honors for her performance in the NCAA Championship heptathlon, while freshmen Courtney Walker and Shanique Walker represented JU at the US Junior Championships.
