Dolphins ground Nighthawks

On Friday night at the Ashley Sports Complex, the Jacksonville University men’s soccer team defeated the Thomas University Nighthawks 2-1 in the Dolphins’ second exhibition of the preseason.

Junior Nick Rodriguez started off the scoring after his header found the back of the net off of a beautiful pass from sophomore Ashton Pett.  The long pass curled in and Rodriguez was able to redirect it passed the Nighthawk keeper.

After Thomas evened the score at 1-1, JU was able to break through with a late goal from freshman Scott Hill.  He was able to score off a rebound from a shot off the foot of fellow freshman Gavin Craig who had received a nice pass from sophomore Jack McIver.  The Dolphins would hold on to win the exhibition 2-1.

Once again this match proved to be a great opportunity for players to gain game experience as 23 players saw action.

JU returns to the Ashley Sports Complex tomorrow for its final exhibition it faces St. Augustine’s Flagler College at 7:00 pm.
