Dolphins still searching for first win

The Jacksonville University men’s soccer team lost 1-0 to FIU on Sunday afternoon at the Ashley Sports Complex to fall to 0-4-0 on the season.  With the win, FIU remains undefeated with a 3-0-0 record.

An early first half goal put the Dolphins behind for most of the game, a position that has been familiar in this young season.

FIU’s Patrick Ramdial was able to net the game’s lone goal in the 19th minute with help from Lucas Di Croce and Daniel Gonzalez.  The passes set up Ramdial perfectly on the right side of the goal where was able to powerfully strike the ball into the back of the net.

Although they could not score, the JU offense looked the best it has all season.  The Dolphins were finally getting good looks at the goal which have been few and far between so far in 2012.  This is evidenced by the 16 shot attempts that JU had in the game.

Midfielder Guilherme Brando and defender Jack McIver both led the way with three shots.  Freshman forward Elliot Roshoir recorded two shots and nearly scored off of a header on a corner late in the second half.

JU kept the pressure on the Panthers the entire game even while playing a man down for the last fifteen minutes due to a red card.

The Dolphins will get another chance to claim their first win in 2012 when they travel to Stetson on September 7 to play in an uncharacteristic early season conference match.
