Dolphins fall at Belmont

The Jacksonville University men’s soccer was defeated by Belmont 2-0 on Saturday night in Nashville to finish out the Dolphins non-conference slate. In an evenly contested match, the Dolphins surrendered a late first half goal to fall behind 1-0 before the Bruins were able to add another goal in the second half to bring the game to the final score of 2-0. In the 43rd minute, Belmont’s Sam Miller took a pass from Alfred Edmonds and beat Dolphin goal keeper Gavin Carlin for the game’s first goal and the 1-0 lead. The Bruins’ Diego Figueroa would double Belmont’s lead with a goal in the 79th minute. Both teams finished with 11 total shot attempts and four corner kicks a piece. JU freshman Juan Manuel Arguedas led the Dolphins with 4 shot attempts Tonight’s match marked the end of Jacksonville’s non-conference schedule. The Dolphins (1-8-1, 0-1-0 A-Sun) will continue to be on the road with two Atlantic Sun matches against USC Upstate and Florida Gulf Coast on October 5th and 7th. |
