Men's rowing puts emphatic finish to fall season
The JU men’s rowing team put an emphatic end to its fall season with a strong showing at the Florida Intercollegiate Rowing Associated championships Saturday.

The Dolphins had a first, a second and a pair of thirds on the Canal 54 course in Fellsmere, Fla.

The most dominate performance came from the Freshman/Novice 8 boat which hammered the field by 26 seconds in its win. Angelo Santiago was coxswain on the big winner and had Andrew Stebbins, Ellis Harr, Garth Greene, Nathan Esterline, Scott Waitley, Tom Harrison, Anthony Rzepka and Chris Searcy on board.

The Dolphins finished second and third in the Varsity 8 competition. The JU “A’’ boat, with Ben Hayes at coxswain was second to Florida Tech. Hayes had Preston Weinard, Shane Kennedy, Scott Del Vecchio, Bernardas Vingilis, Greene, Brian Cosmillo, Waitley and Searcy as crew.

The “B’’ boat was third with David Waugh heading the team of Jeremy Sobiech, Harr, Tim Easterling, Esterline, Chase Rowe, Jared Low, Stebbins and Sean Carney.

The Jacksonville “C’’ and “D’’ boats were seventh and ninth.

The Dolphins finished the day with a third in the Varsity 4 race as Waugh was coxswain with Sobiech, Low, Rowe and Carney on board. The Dolphins also placed boats sixth and ninth in the competition.

The rowers’ spring season begins March 9 with a return to Fellsmere and the Keuper Cup which will be the start to a seven-race spring season.
