North Florida hit better than .400 (43-7-88) to eliminate the JU volleyball team in three sets (16-25, 22-25, 13-25) at the A-Sun Tournament Thursday night in Allen Arena.

The Ospreys (21-11) earned their third win of the season over their cross-town rival with 12 kills from Anna Budinska and nine kills from Carolyn Jenkins.

UNF held the Dolphins (10-23) to a .118 hitting percentage (32-20-102) in the victory. Freshman Sammie Strausbaugh had eight kills for the Dolphins, while junior Kendall Courtney added 22 assists and 11 digs.

“We didn’t have it tonight,” JU head coach Michelle Collier said. “We had a hard time getting into a good rhythm. Overall, I am proud of how hard the girls have worked these last few weeks. They earned this opportunity and will be back here against next year. We look forward to our one last match next week so we can end the season on a high note.”

In the first set, the teams stay closed until a Budinska kill helped the Ospreys gain a 16-12 lead. The Dolphins got the next two points, but UNF used a 9-2 run to end the set.

In the second set, kills from freshman Chuina Graves and junior Alyssa Robertson helped JU tie it a 12. UNF went up 15-13, but JU rallied to take a 19-17 lead from a Strausbaugh kill. Two JU errors and two Jenkins kills allowed the Ospreys to regain a 21-19 lead. After a JU timeout, the Dolphins got within two on a Strausbaugh ace before Dagnija Medina recorded a kill to give UNF the set.

In the third set, JU took an early 5-3 lead on a kill from freshman Emily Laskelle. UNF followed with a 13-4 run, capped on a Medina kill, for a 19-7 advantage. Budinska and Jenkins combined for four of UNF’s final five points to earn the win.

The Dolphins will officially wrap the season Nov. 21 at Florida A&M in Tallahassee, Fla., at 3 p.m.
