JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Highlighted by 29 home games and match ups against national powers Florida State and the University of Florida, the Jacksonville baseball team released its 2013 schedule on Monday morning.
The Dolphins 56-game season begins on Feb. 15 with a three game series at home against Radford. The Dolphins take to the road on Feb. 19 to take on Florida State. Returning home on Feb. 22 the Dolphins face Richmond in a three-game series. The Dolphins close out February with a home game against College of Charleston on the 26th at 4 p.m.
TCU comes to town on March 1 for a three-game series. The Horned Frogs finished 2012 with a 40-22 record and ranked 15th in the final Baseball America poll.
The schedule doesn’t get any easier as the Dolphins host Florida at Sessions Stadium on March 5 and then head to Gainesville on March 6 against the 2012 College World Series team.
Back on the road March 8-9 the Dolphins head to Orlando to play UCF and will return to Sessions Stadium against the Knights on March 10.
The Dolphins head to Bethune Cookman on March 13 return home for a three game series against East Carolina from March 15–17. UCF returns to Sessions Stadium on March 20 for a noon matinee.
Conference play starts for the Dolphins on March 22 as the Spartans of USC Upstate come to town for a three-game series. After a midweek game at Georgia Southern on the 26th the Dolphins head to Macon for a weekend series against Mercer the 28-30.
The April schedule begins on April 2 as Georgia Southern comes to Sessions Stadium for a mid-week tilt followed by a weekend home series against conference foe Stetson the 5th through 7th.
The Dolphins hit the road for their next seven games starting with a mid-week trip to Bethune Cookman on April 9. The Dolphins then head to a three game conference series against Kennesaw State April 12-14. Dolphins then make their first trip to new Conference member Northern Kentucky for a weekend series April 19-21.
The Dolphins return home for their final four games of the month, starting April 23 against FSU and closing the month against cross-town rival and conference foe UNF April 26-28.
The Dolphins’ longest road trip of the year starts out the month of May. The Dolphins head to Florida Gulf Coast for a conference weekend May 3-5 and then head to Miami to play Florida International in a two game series May 7-8.
The Bison from Lipscomb head to town for a weekend conference series May 10-12 and then it is back on the road for the Dolphins for midweek game at College of Charleston on May 14.
The regular season ends with a long road trip to Johnson City, Tenn., to face ETSU in a three-game series starting Thursday, May 16.
The 2013 A-Sun Baseball Championship will be played on May 22-25 in DeLand, Fla. at Melching Field at Conrad Park, the home stadium for the Stetson Hatters.
