JU in eighth after day one of Sea Best Invitational

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – A pair of sophomores lead the JU men’s golf team following the first two rounds of the Sea Best Invitational at the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass. Nick Torrance (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) enters Tuesday’s final round tied for ninth after carding a 4-over-par 148 (76-72), while Brett McKinnon (Grace Bay, Nova Scotia.) sits in a five-way tie for 19th.

  The Dolphins opened the day with a team total of 310 (22-over par) and followed it up with an afternoon round of 304 (16-over par) to finish alone in eight place.

  Tennessee claimed the individual and team leaderboards, as Rick Lamb – the 72nd ranked golfer in the NCAA – takes an eight shot lead into the final round on Tuesday. Lamb fired a 7-under 65 in the second round and is 9-under 135 (70-65) following the first 36 holes. Lamb’s teammate, Jay Vandeventer, is in second after posting a 1-under-par 143 (74-69). The Volunteers also hold the team lead as Tennessee is six shots ahead of Texas A&M. Tennessee is 3-over-par 579 (300-279), while the Aggies ended the day at 9-over 585 (289-296).
