Dolphins in 12th after round one of John Hayt Collegiate Invitational

PONTE VEDRA, Fla. -- Led by freshman Cyril Suk (Bradenton, Fla.). The Jacksonville University men’s golf team is in 12th place at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational.

Suk fired a three under par 69 tying for 6th place in the individual portion of the tournament. Sophomore Nick Torrance (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) fired a one over par 73 for a tie for 33rd. Fellow sophomore Brett McKinnon (Grace Bay, Novia Scotia) fired a 2 over par 74 tying him for 38th. Daniel Kovari (Hungary) finished with a 7 over par 79 and senior Jamey Salmon (Jacksonville, Fla.) fired and opening round 10 over par 82 to round out the Dolphins scoring.

North Florida, ranked 25th, leads with a 12-under 276 and are followed by #11 Duke (282), #45 UCF (286), #12 LSU (290), #48 Coastal Carolina (291), #7 Florida (292) and #38 Tulsa (292). Also in the field is #14 Arkansas and #33 North Texas, each tied for ninth, #22 Tennessee (11th) and #44 Mississippi State (15th).

The annual event is played at the par 72, 6,998-yard Sawgrass Country Club.
