Alford opened the week with 17 points, eight rebounds and four steals in the Dolphins overtime win against East Tennessee State (2/23). Last night, she scored a season-best 25 points (12-15 FG) and had six boards to lead JU past USC Upstate to secure a berth into the A-Sun Tournament.
“We are very happy for Queen,” JU head coach Jill Dunn said. “She is a very special player with a lot of potential. We look forward to her getting better and helping us win more games in the future.”

She leads the team and all A-Sun freshman with a 11.4 scoring average. Alford also is tied for the lead among A-Sun freshman with a 6.1 clip.
The Decatur, Ga., native is the second JU freshman to earn the newcomer accolade after teammate Briona Brown (11/27 & 1/15) picked up two honors earlier this season.
