The big inning has been the Achilles heel of the 2013 Dolphin baseball team. After holding the Cougars to two scoreless innings and the Dolphins leading 4-0 the big inning reared its ugly head once again.

The Dolphins jumped out early with a run in top half of the first when Drew Luther (Fullerton, Ca.) scored on an RBI single by Braddock Rowe (Jacksonville, Fla.).

The Dolphins quickly followed up with three runs in the bottom of the second. Jake Huxtable (Winter Springs, Fla.) singled to lead off the inning and advanced to second on a balk. Dylan Dillard (Kissimmee, Fla.) walked and Zac Houck (Orange Park, Fla.) reached on an error while attempting a sacrifice bunt. Michael Babb (Jacksonville, Fla.) lined a sacrifice fly to center scoring Huxtable. Luther then followed with a single scoring Dillard and Alex McRae (West Allis, Wisc.) added an RBI single scoring Houck to the put the Dolphins up 4-0.

The Cougars scored a single run in the fourth and added two in the fifth and three more in the sixth.

The Dolphins scored a single run in the bottom half of the seventh inning. Following a Luther double McRae singled up the middle scoring Luther from second.

Zach Gordon (St. Petersburg, Fla.) started for the Dolphins and pitched into the third inning allowing five runs all of which were earned.
