Dolphins open up A-Sun play at home

The JU softball team is set to open up Atlantic Sun play this weekend as they host Lipscomb in a three game series starting Saturday.

The Dolphins (14-7), who finished with a 10-8 record in conference play last season, will look to start off
A-Sun play on the right foot against the visiting Bisons (7-9).

JU took two out of the three games the two teams played last year with the last meeting taking place in the conference tournament in which the Dolphins prevailed 2-1.

The Dolphins are coming off of a pair of loses to Georgia Southern on Wednesday in which JU was outscored 9-5 and 5-3.

In the two losses, catcher Sarah Simon and infielder Ashley Simon combined to go 5-12 with three home runs and seven RBI.

Lipscomb enters the weekend on a three game losing streak with their last loss coming against IPFW on March 3.

In the 5-1 loss, the Bisons were held to just three hits including 16 strikeouts.

This weekend’s action starts with a double header on Saturday at the JU Softball Complex scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.  The two teams will return Sunday for a single game slated for 1 p.m.
