Jacksonville Sand Volleyball Splits Pair With FGCU

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Jacksonville split a pair of sand volleyball matches at Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday winning match one, 4-1 and dropping match two, 3-2.

The No.1 duo of Sammie Strausbaugh and Taylor Nyquist won both their matches on the day and have now won seven of the last eight matches dating back to last weekend. Strausbaugh & Nyquist won 21-11 and 21-13 in match 1 against Kaittin Holm and Whitney Masters.  

The JU duo was pushed to the limit in match 2, but still managed to pull out a 21-8, 18-21, 15-12 three set victory.  

The Dolphins worked their way to a match one victory using three third set victories.  In match two FGCU won in straight sets at the 2, 3 and four positions to secure the win.

Jacksonville returns to action at home next Friday and Saturday as the Dolphins host their Easter Sand Tournament starting at 10:00 am.
