DOLPHINS finish 12th at Linger Longer Invitational
EATONTON, Ga. – Playing in one of the strongest fields of the season, the Jacksonville University men’s golf team finished twelfth at the Linger Longer Intercollegiate that concluded Sunday at the par-72, 7,073-yard Great Waters at Reynolds Plantation layout in Eatonton, Ga.
The Dolphins were led by Cyril Suk (Bradenton, Fla.) who fired (72-74 -146) to finish at 2 over par to finish in a tie for 23rd overall. Colin Monagle (Jacksonville, Fla.) finished with (78-73 - 151) to finish in a tie for 46th.
Alabama, ranked No. 2 in the nation, ran away with the team title for the third straight year after posting a 9-under-par 279 Sunday. Four of the five Crimson Tide players finished in the top 10, lifting their team to a tournament total of 560 (-16), 16 strokes clear of co-host Kennesaw State (E). No. 14 Oklahoma State (+1) was third, followed by Tech (+3) and Georgia (+6) in the 14-team field.
Brett McKinnon (Glace Bay, Nova Scotia) finished at (72-80 -152) and a tie for 50th. Jamey Salmon (Jacksonville, Fla.) finished with (76-78 -154) finishing in a tie for 59th. Nick Torrance (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) rounded out the Dolphins scoring with (77-84-161) to finish in a tie for 76th.
The Dolphins will be back in action April 1st and 2nd at the Keith Hills Spring Invitational.
