With temperatures dipping into the middle thirties the Dolphins and the # 22 ranked Eagles squared off in non-conference action.
The Eagles flew out of the box quickly scoring a run on two hits in the bottom half of the first inning.
The Dolphins rallied for a pair of runs in the top half of the third. Nate Ricci (Madison, Wis./LaFollette) launched his first career homerun a towering drive to right. One out later Jake Huxtable (Winter Springs, Fla./Santa Fe College) singled. Nathan Koslowski (Jacksonville, Fla./Episcopal) then followed with a single that was misplayed in right that allowed Huxtable to score all the way from first and put the Dolphins up 2-1.
The lead was short lived. The Eagles scored two runs in bottom half of the third inning on one hit and a costly Dolphin error that extended the inning.
The Dolphins defensive woes continued in the bottom half of the fourth inning allowing 3 runs on four hits and two errors to increase the lead to 6-2.
The Eagles pushed across a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh to make it 8-2.
Dylan Dillard (Kissimmee, Fla./Osceola) lined his third homerun of the season to lead off the top of the eighth to cut the lead to 8-3.
The Eagles added three runs in the bottom of the eighth to make it 11-3.
The Dolphins pushed across a run in the ninth. Kris Molter (Jacksonville,Fla./ Bishop Kenny) doubled and scored on a ground out by Garret Ruckel (Jacksonville, Fla./Stanton). Starting pitcher Josh Baker (Sussez, Wis./University School) (0-4) went 2 1/3 innings allowing three runs, only one of which was earned to get the loss.
The Dolphins will be back in Atlantic Sun action on Thursday from Macon, Ga. The Dolphins will face the Mercer Bears. Game time is set for 6pm and can be followed live on www.judolphins.com
