Dolphins in eleventh after Day one of Pinehurst Challenge
PINEHURST, N.C. - The Jacksonville University women's golf team is currently eleventh after day one of the 2013 Pinehurst Challenge hosted by the College of Charleston. The two-day, 54-hole tournament is being played at Pinehurst Resort #6 (Par 72 - 5,983 yards) in Pinehurst, N.C.
JU was led by Jessica Welch (Lavonia, Ga.) who opened with (77-72 –149) to tie for sixth in the individual competition. Christina Paulsen (Ridgewood, N.J.) opened with (78-78 -156) to tie for 45th after 36 holes of the 54-hole event.
Natalie Schmett (Evansville, Ind.) opened with (77-81 -159) to finish tied for 53rd. Francesca Yong (Malaysia) (78-82 -160) is tied for 67th and Carlie Gelhausen (Noblesville, Ind.) is tied for 89th with (81-86 -167)
The University of Richmond leads the tournament as they finished two rounds with a 594, three shots ahead of second place College of Charleston. Caroline Lovette of Richmond and Vanessa Koechli of the College of Charleston are in a tie for first place after they both finished three shots over par-72, just one shot ahead of Ceresko.
The final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday beginning at 9am.
