Dolphins finish eleventh at Pinehurst Challenge

PINEHURST, N.C. - The Jacksonville University women's golf team finished eleventh (310-313-313-936) at the 2013 Pinehurst Challenge hosted by the College of Charleston. The two-day, 54-hole tournament was played at Pinehurst Resort #6 (Par 72 - 5,983 yards) in Pinehurst, N.C.

The Dolphins were led by Jessica Welch (Lavonia, Ga.) who finished with (77-72-74–223) to tie for third in the individual competition. Christina Paulsen (Ridgewood, N.J.) finished with (78-78-80 -236) alone in 46th.Natalie Schmett (Evansville, Ind.) finished with (77-81-80 -238) to finish tied for 53rd. Francesca Yong (Malaysia) (78-82-79 -239) is tied for 67th and Carlie Gelhausen (Noblesville, Ind.) tied for 85th with (81-86-82 -249)

The University of Richmond won the tournament as they finished the 54-hole tournament with a total of 899, four shots ahead of second place College of Charleston. Caroline Lovette of Richmond closed with a final round 72 to defeat Vanessa Koechli of the College of Charleston for the medalist honors.

The Dolphins will be in action April 8th and 9th at the Web.com Intercollegiate golf tournament at the Marsh Landing Country Club (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.).
