DAYTONA, Fla.-- The JU softball team will take its five-game winning streak on the road today when it travels to Daytona to take on the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats for the third time this season. The Dolphins have won the two previous matchups 2-0, and 3-2.
The Dolphins (26-10, 8-3 A-Sun) come into the matchup on a tear having won five games in a row in dominating fashion outscoring opponents 43-4 over the span. Ashley Simon and Karson Tuck have led the way offensively for the Dolphins during the streak, each batting over.600 with two home runs and 9 RBI. The JU foursome of pitchers of Victoria Brown, Cecile Gomez, Taylor Rossman, and Dale Tillman allowed just 18 hits and three earned runs in the five games.
The Wildcats (8-27) bring a winning streak of their own into today’s game having won their previous three contests. They swept North Carolina Central over the weekend to start their conference play 2-0. Leading the Wildcats is senior Michelle Banuelos-Smith. She leads the team with a .313 batting average, four home runs, and 17 RBI.
