The Dolphins and Hatters matched up in a 3 hour and 53 minute marathon that featured twenty- three hits, all singles.
The Dolphins jumped out early on the Hatters. Nate Ricci (Madison, Wis./LaFollette) coaxed a one out walk in the bottom of the second. One out later Drew Luther (Fullerton, Calif./Fullerton College) singled scoring Ricci and putting the Dolphins up 1-0. The Dolphins then followed with four consecutive singles by Scott Schaub (Ocala, Fla./College of Central Florida), Zachary Houck (Orange Park, Fla./Eagles View Academy), Jake Huxtable (Winter Springs, Fla./Santa Fe College), Nathan Koslowski (Jacksonville, Fla./Episcopal) to increase the lead to 4-0.
The Hatters scored an unearned run off JU starting pitcher Chris Anderson (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) in the top half of the fourth to make it 4-1.
The Dolphins answered back in the fifth. Brady North (Tampa, Fla./Hillsboro CC) led off with a walk. Braddock Rowe (Jacksonville, Fla./South Georgia College) followed with a single to center. Ricci then walked loading the bases. Two outs later Schaub was hit by a pitch allowing North to score and put the Dolphins ahead 5-1.
The Hatters answered with a run in the top half of the sixth on two hits and a wild pitch to cut the lead to 5-2.
JU answered quickly. Huxtable led off with a walk. One out later North singled. Rowe followed with a single loading the bases. Ricci then walked scoring Huxtable and extended the lead to 6-2.
Stetson added a pair of unearned runs in the top half of the seventh on two hits and a very costly Dolphins error to make it 6-4.
JU added three insurance runs in the eighth. North led off with a single. Rowe followed with a single. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch. North then scored on a single by Ethan Loosen (Uniondale, N.Y./FSCJ). Luther then walked. Schaub then singled off the pitcher scoring Rowe. Dylan Dillard (Kissimmee, Fla./Osceola) was hit by a pitch scoring Loosen and increasing the lead to 9-4.
Stetson would not go quietly scoring three runs on two hits in the top half of the ninth before Adam Maxon (Oviedo, Fla./Oviedo) came in and locked down his fourth save of the season.
Chris Anderson (5-2) was credited with the win after pitching 6 2/3 innings allowing only one earned run while striking out five.
