The Florida State Seminoles coming off being swept at the University of Virginia didn’t take long to get started on Tuesday night. The Seminoles scored five runs on five hits and one Dolphin error in the top half of the second inning to lead the Dolphins 5-0.
Dolphin starting pitcher Zach Gordon (St. Petersburg, Fla./St. Petersburg College) (2-6) struggled with his control early walking two Seminoles and hitting another. Gordon allowed four runs on four hits in an inning plus of work. All of the runs against Gordon were earned.
Peter Miller (5-1) pitched seven innings of shut out baseball for the Seminoles allowing only three hits while striking out five in the win.
The Seminoles added four runs on five hits in the top half of the seventh inning to put the game out of reach at 9-0.
The Dolphins were led at the plate by Zachary Houck (Orange Park, Fla./Eagles View Academy), Scott Schaub (Ocala, Fla./College of Central Florida) and Ethan Loosen (Uniondale, N.Y./FSCJ) who all had singles on the night.
