The JU softball team will host Stetson Wednesday night in a game that will help determine who gets into the Atlantic Sun Tournament.
Currently both teams have an identical 11-11 conference record and are tied for the sixth and final spot for the A-Sun Tournament. Stetson however has the tiebreaker between the two teams having won both games of a doubleheader back on April 10.
The Dolphins (30-18, 11-11 A-Sun) enter the game having dropped their last eight contests and will look to snap the streak with an ever important win over the Hatters. Senior Sarah Simon is having one of the best seasons of her storied JU career, leading the team with a .382 average, 16 home runs, and 41 RBI.
The Hatters (28-18, 11-11 A-Sun) come into the contest having won four in a row and five out of their last six games. Junior pitcher Meredith Owen is the two-time reigning A-Sun Pitcher of the Week and leads the team with a 19-7 record and 1.84 ERA. Owen has also proven to be the Hatters biggest offensive threat as she leads them in batting average (.314), home runs (9), and RBI (31).
First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. Fans can follow along with the live stats link or follow @JUSoftball on twitter.
