Eagles Down Dolphins 10-2 in series finale

FT. MYERS, Fla.- The Jacksonville University Dolphins (14-32,A-Sun 7-14) and the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles (30-16, A-Sun 14-7) squared off in game three of a weekend series at Swanson Stadium.

The Dolphins jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top half of the second inning. Brady North (Tampa, Fla./Hillsboro CC) led off with a double and advanced to third on a wild pitch. North then scored on an RBI groundout by Braddock Rowe (Jacksonville, Fla./South Georgia College).

The Dolphins kept the pressure on the Eagles adding a run in the top half of the third inning. Kris Molter (Jacksonville, Fla./Bishop Kenny) led off with a triple and scored when Nathan Koslowski (Jacksonville, Fla./Episcopal) reached on an error making it 2-0 Dolphins.

The FGCU offense fired up in the bottom half of the fourth inning. The Eagles scored four runs on four hits to jump to a 4-2 lead off Dolphin starting pitcher Alex McRae (West Allis, Wis./New Berlin Eisenhower).

The Eagles added three more runs in the bottom half of the fifth inning ending the day for McRae. McRae pitched four plus innings allowing seven runs while striking out three and walking three.

FGCU added an insurance run in the bottom half of the sixth when right fielder Michael Suchy hit his second homerun of the day. Both of Suchy’s blasts were lead off homeruns.

The Eagles rounded out the scoring with a pair of run in the bottom of the eighth off Will Flor (Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson) to make it 10-2.

North who finished the day with a single, a double and a run scored led the Dolphins offensively. Alex McRae was (3-6) was tagged with the loss.
