JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—The Jacksonville University men’s soccer team has released its schedule for the upcoming 2013 fall season. The Dolphins are set to play 17 regular season contests including nine at the newly constructed Southern Oak Stadium.
JU head coach Ryan Pratt’s second year at the helm will kick off on August 21 when the Dolphins travel to Orlando to face UCF for the first of three exhibitions.
The Dolphins’ season officially begins August 30 when they host Valparaiso and later Western Illinois for the Mike Gibbs Memorial Tournament.
“This fall marks the opening of Southern Oak Soccer Stadium and we are looking forward to finally playing in the new venue,” said Pratt. “We appreciate all the support from our administration, alumni, and the local soccer community and are excited about the upcoming season.”
JU will then play six non-conference games against teams such as Wofford, FAU, FIU, and Belmont before opening up Atlantic Sun Conference play. The Dolphins will once again start A-Sun play on the road as they travel to Nashville, Tenn. to take on Lipscomb on October 11.
Jacksonville will play its first conference home game on October 17 when it hosts USC Upstate.
The Dolphins finish off their eight game conference slate at home with games against cross-town rival UNF on November 6 and Stetson on November 9.
The Dolphins will look to once again make it to the postseason and qualify for one of the six spots in the conference tournament. The A-Sun Tournament is scheduled to take place on November 13-17 on the number one seeded team’s campus.
“We have a great group of returners that have worked hard all spring and have improved tremendously and are excited to add our incoming players into our group,” said Pratt. “Our schedule is set up to test us early and prepare us for the very difficult and challenging A-Sun conference season.”
