Dolphins Look to Capture Eighth Straight A-Sun Championship
The JU track & field team will begin its quest to capture its eighth straight Atlantic Sun outdoor track title Friday when it begins day one of the A-Sun Championships on the campus of UNF in Jacksonville.
The Dolphins have captured the last seven conference outdoor titles and are poised to make it eight straight as they have had a record breaking spring season. Coming off their eighth straight indoor title in February, the Dolphins have put together some impressive performances including setting three new school records and a multitude of personal bests.
Although the Dolphins have had high level performances this season, they know they have their work cut out for them if they want to achieve their goals.
“Without question, this meet will be a nail biter,” said Dolphin head coach Ron Grigg. “On paper it is clear we are not the favorites based on our season performances as a team thus far. It will require great efforts by everyone in our program if we are to win this championship. Everyone understands the task that lies ahead.”
The action kicks off on Friday morning and continues throughout the afternoon with several qualifying heats and a few finals. The meet will conclude on Saturday with the bulk of the finals.
