JU Looks For 2-0 A-Sun On Wednesday Against Lipscomb

OPENING TIP
    Jacksonville (6-8; 1-0) eyes a 2-0 start in the Atlantic Sun as Lipscomb (5-7; 0-1) pays a visit to Veterans Memorial Arena on Wednesday night.
    The Dolphins are coming off a 53-51 win over Northern Kentucky on Monday.  Senior guard Russell Powell scored four of his team high 10 points in the final 22 seconds, including a pair of go-ahead free throws with 1.8 seconds left to secure the victory.  One of only two JU players to have started every game this season, Powell ranks third in the A-Sun with 3.7 assists per game and second with a 1.7:1 assist:turnover ratio.
    JU leading scorer, Jarvis Haywood (10.8 ppg), had his best all around game of the season against NKU.  The freshman guard handed out a career best five assists, while equaling a career high with nine rebounds for the second time in the last three games.  Haywood also totaled eight points and a block in 30 of minutes while giving JU a +12 advantage in points scored when he was on the court.  
    Lipscomb is coming of an 84-70 loss at North Florida on Monday, despite an 18-point, 13 rebound effort from 6’4” sophomore forward Martin Smith.  Smith leads the Bison with 12.7 ppg.
