Dolphins finish fourteenth at Sun Trust Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville University men’s golf team finished 14th in the Sun Trust Invitational played on the campus of the University of Florida.


The Dolphins were lead by senior Jamey Salmon (Jacksonville, Fla.) and sophomore Brett McKinnon (Glace Bay, Nova Scotia) who both finished tied for 37th with a three round total of 218. Sophomore Nick Torrance (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) and Colin Monagle (Jacksonville, Fla.) ended in a tie for 58th at 222. Senior Christian Vickers (Jacksonville, Fla.) rounded out the scoring for the Dolphins finishing in 75th with a score of 238.


No. 23 Florida State took the title with an 8-under par 832 while No. 34 North Florida was 15 strokes back with an 847. South Alabama claimed third with an 850, one stroke ahead of the host Florida Gators. No. 47 UCF rounded out the top five with an 859.


The Dolphins will return to action February 24th at the John Hayt Intercollegiate at Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra, Fla.
