Dolphins looking forward to conference slate
The Jacksonville University men’s soccer team has officially reached conference play. Due to a scheduling conflict, the Dolphins will have already played a conference game 28 days before the real start of A-Sun play.
Finishing up their non-conference portion of their schedule with a 1-8-1 record, the Dolphins are looking forward to the new start that Atlantic Sun play brings.
“We are excited about being in conference play,” said JU head coach Ryan Pratt. “We are looking forward to getting the second half of the season started.”
In the first full weekend of conference games, the Dolphins will hit the road and travel to USC Upstate and ETSU.
On Friday, Jacksonville will face the Spartans of USC Upstate at County University Soccer Stadium. The Dolphins hold a 6-1-0 record in the all-time series including winning the last five contests. JU won 3-0 last season at the Ashley Sports Complex with Dolphin goal keeper Gavin Carlin collecting four saves in the shutout.
JU will then travel to Johnson City to take on East Tennessee State on Sunday. JU holds a 3-2-0 record against the Buccaneers however, ETSU knocked the Dolphins out of last season’s A-Sun Tournament with a 2-0 win.
“We know we have two very good opponents ahead of us this weekend,” said Pratt. “They are good teams and we are looking forward to traveling up to their hometowns and giving a good showing.”
