Dolphins finish 12th in Sir Pizza Terrapin Challenge

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. - The Jacksonville University women's golf team completed their first spring tournament, placing 12th in the Sir Pizza Terrapin Challenge in Miami Lakes, Fla. The Dolphins posted a final round of 315 and ended the tournament with score of 952. Natalie Schmett (Evansville, In.) led the Dolphins with a three-day total of 226 to tie for 18th.

Schmett closed the tournament with a two-over 74 the lowest of her three rounds over the demanding par 72 Senators Course @ Shula’s Golf Club in Miami Lakes.

Jessica Welch (Lavonia, Ga.) closed with an eight-over par 80 to the finish the tournament at 239. Carlie Gelhausen (Noblesville, In.) fired a five-over 77 to finish with 243 and a tie for 72nd.Christina Paulsen (Ridgewood, NJ.) and Francesca Young (Malaysia) fired identical scores of 81, 82, 84 on the week and finished in a tied for 79th at 247.

North Carolina State won the team title after shooting 284 in the final round for a tournament total of 874. The Wolfpack also had the top three finishers with Lindsay McGetrick winning the individual title with a score of 212. Florida International finished second at 886 while Miami (Fla.) placed third at 895 and Maryland finish fourth with an 899.

The Dolphins will return to action March 8-10th at the JMU- Eagle Landing Golf Tournament in Orange Park, Fla.
