Dolphins Complete Sweep

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky.—The JU softball team completed the series sweep of Northern Kentucky Sunday winning 6-0.

The Dolphins (30-10, 11-3 A-Sun) got a strong performance out of freshman pitcher Victoria Brown (9-4) to extend their winning streak to nine games.  She allowed just three hits over seven innings while striking out seven Northern Kentucky (7-28, 1-14 A-Sun) batters.

Neither team was able to score a run until the fifth inning when JU erupted for three runs.

After a pop out to start the inning, Brown doubled down the left field line.  Codi Kelly followed with a walk to give JU runners on first and second.  Ashley Simon came to the plate after and infield fly and doubled to left center to score both Dolphins on base.  Karson Tuck then hit a double of her own to score Simon and put JU up 3-0.

JU added a run in the top of the sixth off of a triple by Jacey Warner and a double by Brown to bring her in.

The Dolphin scoring was capped off in the seventh when Tuck hit a two run home run to put JU up 6-0 with her eighth home run of the season.

Jacksonville will now look to extend its win streak to double digits when it returns to action April 10 when it hosts Stetson for a doubleheader.
