Saroli Receives Postseason Academic Accolades
MACON, Ga. – A couple of days away from another trip to the Atlantic Sun tournament, a member of Jacksonville’s men’s soccer team was rewarded for his scholastic achievements. On Monday, Oct. 11, the conference announced junior forward Matheus Saroli as one of the 11 honorees on the Academic All-Conference team.
In his second season with Jacksonville, the sociology major commands the second highest grade point average on the team with a 3.62. Though injuries forced him to sit out a few matches, in 11 games including eight starts, he ties for first in goals scored on the team with four, three of which were recorded in conference matchups. The forward’s best game of the season occurred in the 2-1 win over Mercer on Oct. 13 where he netted both JU goals. With 10 points on the season, he also has two assists.
The Atlantic Sun will release its Player of the Year, All-Conference and All-Freshman awards later this week.
The sixth seeded JU men’s soccer team wrapped up its regular season with a 2-2 draw against Stetson last Saturday and are traveling to Fort Myers, Florida to face the third seeded Lipscomb in the first round of the A-Sun tournament. The match will occur on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 4 p.m.
