PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – As a rainy morning 18 gave way to a windy second round at the Marsh Landing Country Club, the Jacksonville University women’s golf team struggled in the changing conditions, dropping from third to seventh at the conclusion of Monday’s second round. The Dolphins will have Tuesday’s final round to make a charge, which is very much in play as the team is only seven strokes out of second place.

JU was led on Monday by Natalie Schmett and Jessica Welch. The duo posted identical scores of 74 and 76 to stand at +6 (150) and in a tie for 14th place. Carlie Gehlhausen is third for the Dolphins after posting rounds of 76 and 78 for a score of +10 (154) that has her in a tie for 26th. Francesca Yong (+11, 155) and Morgan Matchett (+15, 159) round out the totals for Jacksonville.

Individually, Jacqueline Shelly of FAU leads with a two-round score of 1-under par (70-73 = 143), one shot ahead of Laura Fuenfstueck of College of Charleston.

College of Charleston leads after 36 holes with a score 590. North Florida is in second at 602, followed by Stetson at 604. Daytona State (604), Wofford (605) and Troy (608) are also within striking distance for the Dolphins on Tuesday. Tomorrow’s final round begins at 8:30 am.
