CHATANOOGA, Tn. – Highlighted by another first place finish from the Freshmen 4, the Jacksonville University women’s rowing program continued its fall schedule at the Head of the Hooch regatta on the Tennessee River.

“I was really happy with the way the women represented our program today,” commented Head Coach Jim Mitchell. “While we aren't where we want to be with our speed, we are making big gains. The whole team contributed to our progress, but the freshmen women really added a spark.”

With a 5.1 second advantage over the University of Tulsa, JU’s Novice 4 took the top spot for the women’s lone top ten finish of the day.

“The freshmen women's 4 had our best result today for the women's team,” continued Mitchell. “They rowed well, and raced great.”

In the Championship 8+ race, the Fins finished 13th and 25th with times of 16:59.5 and 18:33.5.

The Championship 4+ crews faced stiff competition in their heat. Rowing against 31 other boats, the Fins A Boat ended their heat in 19:04.8 to finish 21st and the B Boat touched the finish line with a time of 20:22.1 (27th).
